There are approximately 55 prophets in the Jewish religion. There is some debate about who should be included on the list and the roles some of them played. There are three divisions of prophets, which are former prophets, major prophets and minor prophets.
There are approximately 48 male prophets, including Abraham, Moses, Solomon, Elijah, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Isaac and Jeremiah. The seven female prophets include Sarah, Miriam, Deborah, Hannah, Abigail, Huldah and Ester. The main debate on people being included in the list of prophets focuses on Daniel. He saw visions of the future, which came true, but many debate that his main job was educate future generations, not warn the current one.
