What is a makabuhay plant?

Makabuhay is a plant that is native to tropical and subtropical rain forests in the Far East. The plant has many medicinal uses in India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Used as traditional medicine for thousands of years, makabuhay has been used to treat common ailments such as arthritis and some forms of cancer. It is often combined with other plant derivatives such as coconut oil to topically treat issues such as skin ulcers and scabies. The plant is recognized by its heart-shaped leaves and is commonly found growing wild in the forests. All parts of the plant are used, including the bark, roots and leaves.
