How do you make a bolo tie?

Creating a bolo tie generally entails gluing a bolo slide to a chosen flat object or pendant, then tightening the bolo slide with some string or a cord. Bolo ties are simple to make in just a few minutes.

1. Gather the preferred bolo tie materials

   Obtain a cord or some string, a bolo slide, strong glue and a pendant or other object. Cap nuts and paint are optional for decorating the ends of the bolo tie.

2. Connect the pendant with the bolo slide

   Glue the back of the chosen object to the bolo slide. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the amount of time necessary for the glue to dry.

3. String the bolo slide, and adjust the cord

   Put one end of the cord through the bolo slide. Tighten the cord enough so the pendant or object does not slip through the string, but make sure it is loose enough to be adjustable.

4. Decorate the cord or string

   Decorate the ends of the cord with cap nuts or paint if desired. Carefully glue cap nuts to the end of each piece of string, allowing them to properly dry. Paint the ends of the string as desired and allow them to fully dry in order to prevent staining clothing.
