How do you make homemade aluminum polish?

Although there are several ways to make homemade aluminum cleaner, one simple recipe is a mixture of water, white vinegar and cream of tartar. You also need a working stove, oven mitts, a sponge, dish soap and a sink. This cleaning compound takes seconds to make and is particularly effective when made in the vessel that requires cleaning.

1. Fill the aluminum vessel with water

   Fill the aluminum vessel with warm water and place it on the stove over a high heat.

2. Add vinegar and cream of tartar

   For every quart of water in the vessel, add 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar and 1/2 cup of room-temperature white vinegar. If you do not have enough white vinegar, use a combination of vinegar and bottled lemon juice.

3. Boil the cleaning compound in the aluminum vessel

   Keep the vessel over high heat until the cleaning solution boils. Maintain a rolling boil for 10 minutes.

4. Drain the vessel

   Don a pair of oven mitts and turn off the stove. Pick up the aluminum vessel, bring it to the sink and slowly pour the boiling cleaning solution down the drain. Put the empty vessel on a cool stove burner until it returns to room temperature, then wash it with dish soap and a sponge.
