Make free phone calls online using Google Chat or Google Voice. As of 2015, Google Chat allows you to call any phone number in the United States and Canada for free.

You must sign up for a Gmail account to use the Google Chat service. Once you have your account, log in to Gmail. In the Google Chat list on the left hand side of the screen, click the Call Phone icon. On the pop-up keypad, enter the phone number you want to call, and click the Call button. To use Google Voice, you need to sign up for a Google Voice account. After you log in to Google Voice, click the Call button, enter a phone number in the United States or Canada, and click Connect to call that number for free.
