To make a "pouty" or sad face via text, open a message window, and place your cursor in the text field. Then, type a colon followed by a left parentheses bracket.

1. Open a text message window

   Start a new text message. Type the recipient's name in the "To" field, and place your cursor in the empty text field.

2. Make the eyes

   Type a colon to make the eyes of the "pouty" face. If you want the face to have a tear, type an apostrophe after typing the colon.

3. Create the mouth

   Directly next to the color or apostrophe, type a left parentheses bracket to complete the face. On some phone keyboards, you may need to hold down the shift key first.
