How do you make things float?

To make an object float, find a sealed container, attach the container to the object, and place the object in a fluid. Objects float when they are positively buoyant, or less dense than the fluid in which they are sitting. To float, objects simply must have a greater ratio of empty space to mass than the fluid.
- Locate a sealed container
Find a container that has empty space. To float, the combination of the object and the container must have a greater ratio of empty space to mass than the fluid, so choose the container size accordingly. Ensure that the container is sealed so that fluid cannot enter it.
- Attach the container
Fasten the container to the object securely.
- Place the object in the fluid
Put the combined object and container in the fluid. If enough empty space exists in the securely fastened and sealed container, the object floats.
