To make an upholstered headboard, fuse fusible fleece, pressing cloth and fabric to an existing headboard with an iron. Add trim to the edges with hot glue.
- Cut the foam core board
Place the headboard on top of the foam core board. Cut out the outline of the headboard in the foam core board with a craft knife.
- Cut the fusible fleece pieces
Place the headboard on top of the fusible fleece, and trace its outline with a marker. Cut out the shape, and repeat two more times.
- Add a pressing cloth
Stack the fusible fleece pieces on top of the foam core board. Cut a pressing cloth to the size of the headboard, and lay it over the fleece layers.
- Fuse the cloth to the fleece
Mist the surface of the cloth with water, and run an iron over it to fuse the cloth to the fleece.
- Cut the fabric
Lay the headboard down on the fabric. Cut the outline of the headboard in the fabric away from the edges enough to allow the fabric to stretch over the edges and onto the back.
- Secure the fabric to the headboard
Start at the center, and run the iron toward the edges to secure the layered foam core board to the headboard with the fabric.
- Add fusible adhesive
Align fusible adhesive along the edges of the headboard paper side up, and iron them. Remove the paper, and run the iron over it again.
- Secure the fabric to the back
Cut a piece of fabric 1/2 inch smaller than the headboard, and fuse it to the back.
