What is a male panda called?

Male panda bears are called boars. This is the same term used for males in other bear species. Females are called sows, and babies are called cubs.
To mark trees as high up as possible with its scent, a male panda frequently does handstands to elevate his hind end. Scents that are marked higher up on a tree indicate dominance over other male pandas.
Pandas are native to southwestern China, where they typically inhabit bamboo- and conifer-filled forests. Males mature at 6 to 7 years old and are usually about 5 feet tall. They weigh 190 to 275 pounds when fully grown.
