What is a male shark called?

Male sharks are referred to as bulls or simply as males. Female sharks are only referred to as females, and the offspring of sharks are called pups.
In most species of sharks, males are smaller than their female counterparts. Males can be identified by a pair of organs called claspers. These are located between the pelvic fins on the bellies of the sharks. During mating, males bite onto the females and insert their claspers into the female's cloaca in order to release sperm. Sharks are either oviparous or viviparous. Oviparous females lay eggs. Viviparous female sharks, the most abundant type, carry their pups in their uterus for a gestation period before giving a live birth.
