How many calories are in Boba tea?

According to professional personal fitness trainer Jillian Michaels, a popular brand of boba tea, Lollicup, has 440 calories in one serving. Almost half of those calories come from fat.

Michaels reports that boba tea is also referred to as "boba milk tea," "black pearl tea" or "bubble tea." The drink typically contains green or black tea, milk and tapioca buds.

The Canadian health source C-Health indicates that although tea begins low in calories, the more complex the drink becomes, the higher the calorie count. Fresh fruit or fruit syrup are sometimes added, and the syrup often has a lot of sugar. Regular or condensed milk and the tapioca pearls increase the calories.
