John F. Kennedy served 1,037 days as the president of the United States. Kennedy was sworn into office on Jan. 20, 1961 and was assassinated on Nov. 22, 1963.
JFK was the 35th president of the United States and the first Roman Catholic president. He was shot and killed in Dallas, Texas, while riding in a convertible during a motorcade. It is believed that Lee Harvey Oswald fired the shots that killed the president. Two hours after the assassination, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as president on Air Force One at Dallas Love Field in Dallas, Texas.
