How many grams of protein are in one large egg white?

One large egg white contains four grams of protein. This accounts for more than half the protein in an entire egg, which is six grams.
Egg whites are an inexpensive protein source for the food industry, and an attractive option for people on restricted diets, as they contain no cholesterol, saturated fat, carbohydrates or sugar. They are also low in calories, with just 17 in a large egg white, and good sources of potassium, riboflavin and selenium.
Although egg whites are a good source or protein, they do not provide the same nutritional benefits as whole eggs. Most of an egg's vitamins and minerals--choline, vitamin D, vitamin B-12 and iron--are contained in the yolk.
