How many information bytes are processed by the brain per second?

The brain, at its fastest, processes information during decision-making at about 60 bits per second or less. Since there are eight bits in a byte, that equates to around seven to eight bytes per second.
A team of scientists from the Université de Provence in France determined the processing speed of the human brain after studying the brain's reaction times and applying an analysis of entropy involved in the distribution of reaction times during various tasks. The French scientists suggested that the brain's processing speed varies according to the sort of task the brain is doing, and may occasionally exceed 60 bits per second.
