How many people are employed in the United States?

As of July 2014, there are 139 million people employed in the United States. This number is up by 209,000 employees from June and by 1.47 million from the beginning of 2014.

The number of those people employed in the United States has gradually risen since September of 2010. However, the employment numbers dropped between April 2010 through September 2010 from 132 million employees down to 130 million employees.

The 2014 employment numbers are only finally reaching back to employment levels seen during 2008, when the United States had 138 million employees before numbers dropped dramatically to a low of 129 million employees on February 2010.
