How many people pass the Series 7 exam?

Two-thirds of Series 7 test takers pass the exam. Professionals who wish to sell investment securities are required to pass the test to obtain a license. More than 72 percent of the questions need to be answered correctly for a candidate to pass.

The Series 7 exam lasts for six hours and is made up of 260 questions as of 2014. Ten of the questions do not count toward the score and are experimental in nature. They may appear as scored answers on future tests.

The exam is highly technical in nature and requires rigorous study before testing. Making sure studied materials are up to date and memorizing key concepts increases the likelihood of passing the exam.
