How many South American countries do not border the ocean?

South America has two countries that do not border an ocean, Bolivia and Paraguay. Bolivia ranks as the seventh largest landlocked country in the world with approximately 682,626 square miles of land area.
According to South America Travel News, Bolivia has two capitals, one of them being La Paz, which has the highest elevation of any capital in the world at 12,000 feet. Bolivia is home to the salt flats of Uyuni, the judicial capital Sucre and the largest city within the country, Santa Cruz. While Paraguay has no border with the sea or ocean, it does transport goods with ships by river to and from the Atlantic.
