As of Jan. 1, 1997, there were about 290 unmarked gravesites at the Evergreen Cemetery in Perry, Georgia. The 12.3-acre cemetery in Houston County contains graves dating back to 1827. The city of Perry maintains the public cemetery, which contains about 2,200 gravesites.
Evergreen Cemetery consists of close to 600 family burial plots, some with over a dozen graves. Most of them are either in alphabetical or numerical order. The city of Perry maintains a survey plat of the cemetery at the city's municipal building. The city also offers a mapping application online that allows the public to view and search its cemetery database for lot identification numbers and names.
