How many ways are there to perform the military salute like a soldier?

There is only one correct way to salute like a soldier. Soldiers stand at the position of attention with their bodies straight, their heels together and their left hands by their side. The right hand is raised so that the fingertips are just barely touching the corner of right eye.

In the military, enlisted personnel salute the U.S. flag during drills and ceremonies as a show of respect. Enlisted personnel also salute outdoors when greeting or passing by an officer, with the officer

saluting back as a form of acknowledgement. Officers also salute when greeting or passing by a higher ranking officer.
