How many yards is an extra-point kick?

An extra-point kick in the National Football League is a 20-yard kick. Extra points always follow a touchdown, allowing teams the opportunity to score an additional point after earning 6 points with the touchdown. Teams also have the option of skipping the extra point and trying a 2-point conversion.
During the 2014 preseason, the NFL experimented with the extra point by making it a 38-yard kick instead of a 20-yard kick. The NFL did this in an effort to make the extra point less automatic, as the current success rate on extra points is more than 99 percent. Moving the extra point back may also entice teams to attempt a 2-point conversion more frequently.
