Who is Maria Sharapova?

Maria Sharapova is a Russian tennis player who has resided in the United States since 1994, as of 2015. Born in Nyagan, Russia, on April 19, 1987, she turned pro at the age of 14 in 2001. In 2004, she became the first Russian woman to win Wimbledon.

Sharapova won the silver medal in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. As of October 2015, she has won 30 WTA singles, including five Grand Slams, four WTA Premier 5 singles titles, three WTA Premier Mandatory singles titles, one year-ending championship and six WTA Tier I singles titles. She won the French Open in 2012 and 2014. She won the U.S. Open in 2006 and the Australian Open in 2008.
