What does a marriage license cost in Louisiana?

As of 2015, the total cost of a marriage license in Louisiana is $34.50 in cash. When broken down, the actual marriage license costs $27.50, photocopying the birth documents costs $1.00 and the legal copy of the marriage certificate costs $6.00.

The clerk who authorizes the marriage must also keep a copy of both birth certificates, and if the people getting married do not bring copies, the cost is an additional $1.00 for photocopying. Couples must purchase a marriage license at least 72 hours before the actual ceremony takes place. If the couple gets the license but does not have the ceremony within 30 days, the license is no longer valid.
