Vinnie Politan was married to his wife Dolly in 2014. The couple moved to Atlanta in 2009 with their two sons after living in New Jersey and Florida.

In a 2014 interview, Politan said he could have pursued a job outside of Atlanta in front of a national audience. He spent five years hosting multiple justice-related shows based in the city. However, he didn't want to uproot his family again.

Politan and his wife were channel surfing for a morning news show to watch and started watching the 11 Alive network. When an anchor left for a job in Tennessee, Politan applied for the vacancy. He began his new job as the host of the "Atlanta Alive" morning show in August 2014. As a husband and father, Politan likes to reminds viewers to hug their kids.
