What is the Massacio Holy Trinity?

The "Holy Trinity" or simply the "Trinity" is a fresco produced by Italian painter Masaccio in the 1420s. The painting represents the doctrine of the Trinity.

The "Holy Trinity" depicts the Biblical God, the Father, as a stern bearded man in robes. It uses the Crucifix as a representation of Jesus, the Son. The Holy Spirit is represented by a white dove. The Trinity is the focal point of the painting, with John and Mary looking up from the middle-lower right and left corners. Two unknown figures, likely patrons of the church, flank the lowermost corners of the fresco. Below an artistic, and likely once physical, divider is death represented by an entombed skeleton.
