The master of ceremonies is responsible for introducing speakers, participants or entertainers in a public setting. This person functions as the host of an event, making sure that the occasion runs smoothly.
Being master of ceremonies, or MC, typically involves more than simply reading names. The MC meets with organizers to understand the structure and flow of the ceremony. It is the responsibility of the MC to ensure that the event follows the agenda and time is not wasted. Although thorough preparation helps an occasion unfold properly, unexpected circumstances sometimes arise. In these situations, the MC needs to be flexible and creative to get the ceremony back on track with minimal distractions.
