Where is Macedonia?

Macedonia is located in southeastern Europe. The country is bordered by Kosovo to the northwest, Greece to the south, Serbia to the north, Bulgaria to the east and Albania to the west. Macedonia is an entirely landlocked country.

Macedonia covers a total area of about 10,000 square miles, making it a little larger than the state of Vermont, and the 150th-largest country in the world. Skopje is the capital and largest city of Macedonia, situated in the northern part of the country at an elevation of approximately 740 feet above sea level. Skopje had a population estimated around 500,000 people as of 2011. Macedonia has a total population exceeding 2 million people as of 2014.
