Ten to the 12th power is equal to 10 being multiplied by itself 12 times. Ten to the power of 12 is 1,000,000,000,000, or one trillion.
The exponent of a number tells you how many times to multiply that number by itself. For example, 10 to the fourth power is 10 x 10 x 10 x 10, or 10000. An easy method of working out problems regarding powers of 10 is simply to see the power and add the same number of zeros to the end of 1. Ten to the power of 4 means that four zeros should be added after the number 1. Ten to the power of 12 means that 12 zeros should be added after 1.
