A MATLAB 3-D plot is a three dimensional graphical display of either a function or data points produced by MATLAB. MATLAB is both a programming language and a system of software designed for manipulating mathematical matrices, graphing and analyzing data and building mathematical models.
Both mathematicians and academics who need to analyze data or mathematically model systems or phenomena use MATLAB extensively. Three-dimensional plotting displays data in an eye-catching and informative way. It is particularly useful for data that contains more than two variables. Three-dimensional plotting is also useful for modeling physical objects or for exploring the geometry of certain functions.
