McFarland, California is a city in Kern County, in the San Joaquin Valley. McFarland is 80 miles southeast of Fresno, 24 miles northwest of Bakersfield and 6 miles south of Delano.
McFarland is named after J.B. McFarland, who was the founder of the city. The city of McFarland was incorporated in 1957. Some of the attractions in and around McFarland include the Kern County Museum, Wasco Historical Museum, the Kern National Wildlife Refuge and Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park. Fresno Yosemite International is the nearest airport for access to McFarland. According to the 2000 census, McFarland has a population of 9,618 residents.
