What does it mean when the differential part of CBC is normal?

A normal blood differential result from a complete blood count test indicates that each type of white blood cell in the body is within normal range, according to MedlinePlus. The types of white blood cells include neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils, states WebMD.
When a person has a white blood cell count that is outside of the normal range, this can indicate medical conditions such as leukemia, infection or a toxic reaction, explains WebMD. In addition to white blood cell type and count, a CBC test also includes a red blood cell count, platelet count and mean platelet volume. Hemoglobin and hematocrit are also measured during a CBC test.
