Does Medicaid provide seniors with dental plans?

Medicaid is required to provide dental benefits for children covered by the insurance; however, each state is able to decide whether or not adults are provided coverage. Less than half the states in the United States provide dental benefits to adults, while others only provide coverage for emergency dental services.

There are minimum requirements for dental care for children under the Medicaid program. Children must receive coverage for a minimum of restoration of teeth, relief of any infections or pain, as well as maintaining dental health. There are no specific minimum coverage requirements for adults that receive dental benefits under Medicaid.
