Neuropathy, or nerve pain, can be treated with a variety of medications, including anti-convulsants, antidepressants, painkillers and topical medications, states WebMD. Neuropathy may also be treated with electrical stimulation treatments.
Many medications are available to treat the pain associated with neuropathy. Anti-convulsant drugs are common drugs that are often considered first for patients who suffer from neuropathy. These drugs can calm down the nervous system and cause a patient's nerves to stop tingling and causing pain. Antidepressant drugs such as tricylic antidepressants and SNRI drugs may help calm down the nervous system and keep patients' pain at bay, states WebMD.
