Frederic Remington used bronze as the medium in his original statues. Remington cast his first group of bronze statues using the sand-casting method in the year 1895.
Frederic Remington's work is made up of 22 different subjects. He began this work with the Henry-Bonnard Bronze Company. Later, he worked with the Roman Bronze Company in New York. These statues used the lost-wax bronze casting process. While it is possible to find many reproductions on the market, there are only between 25 and 50 pieces made from the original Remington bronze molds. At the time of her death, Remington's wife requested that the remaining molds be destroyed.
