What is the melting point of pewter?

By Forinfos - 23/05/2025 - 0 comments

Pewter has a melting point of between 244 and 295 degrees Celsius, or 471 to 563 degrees Fahrenheit. In metal casting, pewter is warmed up to 330 C (645 F) to ensure that the melted material fills the cavity of the casting before solidifying.

Pewter is an alloy composed of 90 to 98 percent tin. Pewter also contains traces of antimony (1 to 8 percent) and copper (up to 3 percent.)

Due to the low melting point of pewter, household pewter products should not be used with a microwave or stove and should never be exposed to a direct flame.
