What are men's girdles?

As reported in the Washington Post, there are two types of men's girdles: athletic support and shapewear. The latter has the same function as women's shapewear. They are available online and wherever undergarments or athletic wear are sold.

Athletic support girdles are made out of compression performance fabric and have padding for the protection of the hips, thighs and tailbone. Men's shapewear has the same function as women's shapewear, which is to smooth out love-handles, slim the belly and create an overall svelte look. This type of men's wear is becoming a staple in gym wear and fashion trends. Compression shirts and tanks are also available.
