How does Mercedes-Benz's mbrace work?

Mercedes mbrace is an online feature that runs through the vehicle’s on-board system and does not require connection to a smartphone to function. The feature allows the user to check weather updates, get navigation assistance and even use the mobile application to unlock the car or find where it's parked.

The feature comes with many Mercedes-created applications made specifically for mbrace, including Facebook, Google Search, Yelp and even news feed applications from the Associated Press.

Mbrace has a mobile application with location services that can help users find their cars if they can’t remember where they parked. The mobile application also allows remote locking and unlocking and can even sound the horn.

Other services include emergency, safety and travel assistance features. Mbrace allows users to use an SOS button in case of emergencies and set up driving zones online for parents looking out for their teen drivers. These driving zones can notify the user if the car is traveling at speeds higher than what is allowed or if the car has crossed a boundary. Real people can also be reached to get assistance with navigation and even with concierge services, such as getting dinner reservations or tickets to a concert.
