What is "Meri Bassai"?

“Meri Bassai” is a Nepali comedy sitcom that first aired on Nepal National Television in 2006. Sitaram Kattel is the writer, the co-director and a major actor. He has played over 24 roles on the popular sitcom.

Sitaram Kattel’s major role as Dhurmush is as a man who commits crimes and cannot stop himself, even when his wife and father plead with him to leave behind that bad behavior. Kattel’s wife, Kunjana Ghimire, plays his wife Suntali on the sitcom. Kedar Ghimire is another major actor on “Meri Bassai,” named Magne Budho. The character is missing his front teeth and is always borrowing items from others.
