What is metal stud framing?

Metal stud framing is the practice of using metal stud material for the construction of housing walls. As of May 2015, most homeowners insist on using wood stud framing for heavy support walls and metal stud framing for any non-load bearing walls.

Metal stud framing is more convenient for installation and cleaning, but it is also more expensive than wood stud framing. However, metal studs are also less susceptible to insect damage and more resistant to fire, although it is harder to attach insulation to them. While metal stud frames are susceptible to rust, they are also less likely to buckle over time compared to wood.
