Beginners can solve a virtual Rubik's cube using the Heise method. Advanced players can use the Fridrich method, Petrus method, Roux method and Waterman method, which are great for speed cubing.
The Heise method involves the classic layer-by-layer approach. There are some methods which are variations, with the main differences being the particular sequences used to solve each step and also the order of the steps to solve the last layer. The Fridrich method involves executing predefined algorithms depending on the state of the cube. The Petrus and Roux methods are block methods used in "fewest moves" competitions, while the Waterman method is based on the "corners first" approach.
