Ajijic is located about 35 miles north of Guadalajara within the state of Jalisco in Mexico. Ajijic is surrounded by the Sierra Madre Mountains and lies within a central plateau in Mexico by the shore of Lake Chapala, the country's largest freshwater lake.
Ajijic has a tropical climate with an average daily high temperature around 72 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year with low humidity. The wet season in Ajijic occurs between June and October, with the area receiving a little over 30 inches of precipitation in that time period. Ajijic had a population of about 10,500 people as of 2010.
