Who are Michael and Buffy Waltrip?

Michael Waltrip is a NASCAR driver and Buffy Waltrip was his wife. Her real name is Elizabeth Buffy Franks and she and Michael divorced in 2010. The two have a daughter, Margaret Carol Waltrip, who Buffy Franks received custody of in the divorce.

Michael Waltrip is known for winning the Daytona 500 in 2001 and 2003. During the 2001 race, his victory was assisted by mentor Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. The elder Earnhardt died in the 2001 race, and Waltrip was haunted by the memory of that event. He believes that emotional trauma from that death led to his estrangement and eventual divorce from Buffy.
