Why was there a Michelin tire recall?

Michelin issued a recall for the LTX M/S 2, X Radial LT2 and Latitude Tour model tires due to sidewall perforations that could result in loss of air pressure. Michelin also recalled the LTX M/S model tire due to tread loss and rapid air loss.

Michelin tires with the sidewall perforation defect were produced between September 2012 and June 2013 and should be removed from vehicles as soon as possible. Each tire's Department of Transportation sequence is available at MichelinMan.com, in the recall section. Comparing the DOT sequence to the number on the tire officially determines if it should be removed due to defects. Drivers who purchased recalled Michelin tires may have them replaced at a dealer at no charge, as of 2015.
