Microsoft Lync is a unified communications platform offering voice, instant messaging and video services that can be installed as an on-premise solution or used on an online subscription basis. Lync offers a secure connection and a standard interface regardless of the devices used to join a meeting.

Lync users can attend a meeting using their computers, phones or tablets, regardless of the device's operating system. Attendees are able to collaborate in real-time with Lync’s screen-sharing and document-editing features. Virtual whiteboards are offered for online presentations. Microsoft Lync also displays contact information about meeting attendees who may connect from within an organization or externally.
