Are minerals organic?

Minerals are either organic or inorganic. Organic minerals contain carbon, which allows them to form ionic bonds with the human body and help with critical functions such as tissue repair. Inorganic minerals do not contain carbon and are treated as toxins by the body.
Organic minerals are obtained through food, vitamins and supplements. Water is the primary source of inorganic minerals such as calcium carbonate. These minerals are good for plants, but they can cause conditions such as gallstones, arthritis and joint pain in humans. Inorganic minerals can be removed from water through filtration systems, including distillation and reverse osmosis.
