What is a "mini" bikini?

Mini bikinis are swimwear for women that provide very minimal coverage. They resemble traditional bikinis but generally have smaller patches of fabric and thinner straps holding the garment together.

Mini bikinis come in a wide variety of styles and colors. Some styles have peek-a-boo cut outs or are made of translucent fabric but these are not requirements. Most mini bikini bottoms are thong-style. Many tops have halter necks or strapless construction. Because of their delicate construction, the majority of mini bikinis are not designed for swimming. They are primarily worn in the sun to reduce the appearance of tan lines and as special event fashion.
