To be eligible for HUD housing, at least one family member in the household needs to be 18 years old. Documentation is required to prove the age of adults in the household, in the form of a driver’s license, military ID, birth certificate or social security card.
Aside from the minimum age requirements, HUD also considers the household annual gross income, if anyone in the home is disabled or considered elderly, and what the immigration or U.S. citizen status of the family members is. HUD also considers the number of people in the household and whether or not children are living in the home.
