What was MLK's March on Washington?

The March on Washington led by Martin Luther King, Jr. was a march for civil rights for people of color. The march happened on Aug. 28, 1963.

The march was in support of the Civil Rights Act that was stuck in Congress at the time. Both people of color and white people participated, with more than 200,000 people marching in total. The official name of the march was "March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom". On the same day at the Lincoln Memorial, King gave his "I Have a Dream" speech. Multiple celebrities participated in the march, including Bob Dylan and Marlon Brando.
