Montessori teaching is the use of non-traditional teaching materials in a non-traditional classroom setting. The focus is on developing the whole child intellectually, physically and spiritually. Montessori teachings allow teachers to supervise children while they use materials that foster creativity, inspire critical thinking and promote problem solving.
The Montessori theory teaches children how to solve life problems on their own or within a group. Children are exposed to the tools they need to handle everyday life situations, but they are not shown how to use them. The Montessori teaching theory motivates students to lead, think and problem solve to figure things out.
