What month does basketball season start?

The NBA season starts in October nearly every year that there isn't some kind of work stoppage. The 2014 season began on Tuesday, October 28. The college basketball season tips off a month later in November, with the first games of 2014 on Friday, November 14.

On occasion, both the professional (NBA) and college ranks (NCAA) have started off earlier in their respective months. Basketball is considered a fall sport, so it does not begin until after September in any North American leagues. The exhibition, or preseason, tips off for the NBA about three weeks earlier than the regular season.
