Does the moon spin?
By Forinfos - 17/03/2025 - 0 comments
The moon does rotate, and it orbits around the Earth. It completes one full orbit around the Earth every 27.322 days. The moon also takes approximately 27 days to rotate around its own axis.
Since the moon both rotates around its own axis and orbits the Earth in 27 days, it appears from Earth that the moon does not rotate. This is not the case. Instead, the moon has synchronous rotation due to it taking the same amount of time to rotate on its axis that it does to orbit Earth. The moon does have a dark side, or far side, that is not seen from Earth.
